WELCOME!
Please note my areas of
practice along the left side of the page. These are the areas in
which I have the greatest amount of experience, but I will discuss
other legal issues with you and help you plan a course of action to
solve your problem, even if it means I refer you to another lawyer.
Sometimes a short
consultation with a lawyer can help you understand a situation
better and open your eyes to alternate solutions. A personal
meeting is best so that I can understand all the facts and issues
before giving you legal advice.
ABOUT MY PRACTICE
I began practicing law
in 1985 in Arizona, where I went to law school. I was very
fortunate to work with some of the top lawyers there, including Bill
Jones of Jones, Skelton & Hochuli, and Calvin C. Thur. I had
defense experience with JS&H, and aggressive plaintiff experience
with Cal Thur, and have represented many individuals, companies, and
governmental entities.
I spent my first year
after law school working as a judicial clerk for one of the judges
in the Arizona Court of Appeals, which has given me superior legal
writing skills and critical understanding of court procedure.
In 2000, I moved back to
Dayton, Ohio, where I was born. Since then I have worked with Green
& Green Lawyers, and with Murr, Compton, Claypoole &
Macbeth, two firms which have been around for a long time and have
excellent reputations in the community. I handled a wide
range of cases in those firms as well, such as defending claims
against a chain of grocery stores, defending villages and townships
against employee discrimination and wrongful discharge claims,
representing victims of alleged sexual harassment in the workplace,
and a bitter will contest, to name just a few. I have represented several students
in the Dayton area in contract and consumer fraud cases against
career colleges they attended.
In 2009, I moved my
office to Eaton, Ohio, across from the courthouse at 100 West Main
Street. I have one teenaged son and am married to Manfred Schreyer,
the owner of
TAFFYs (Music Venue - Coffee
- Craft Brew Beer and Wine Shop) at 123 East Main Street.
I have always
been actively involved in my community. I have served on many
community boards and planning committees, including most recently
the Dayton YWCA and the Centerville-Washington Township (Ohio)
Create the Vision Plan and Implementation groups, I have mentored
troubled youth in the court system, and I have coached the
Trotwood-Madison High School mock trial team or judged the
competition for several years.
